JJ asked: Why is it that when people mention the good conferences they only mention, SEC, Pac-10, Big Ten, and Big 12. What about the ACC? Top 25 last few years you’ve always seen, VA Tech, Boston College, Miami (usually), George Tech, Clemson, Wake, FLA State (can’t be down forever). I see a lot better teams top to bottom in that conference than any other conference except the SEC. Big Ten has 2 or 3 teams total (Mich, OSU, and Wisc). Big 12, same thing pretty much, what? (texas and Okla). Pac-10 (still waiting to see someone besides USC do something, nice try Oregon). Big East sucks, (WVU’s schedule is embarrassing). Thoughts?
So basically Virginia Tech has to beat LSU this year for respectability? This I agree with and I hope they can do it. So one down year with Miami in turmoil and everyone’s down on the ACC. Maybe you’re right about the QB thing, the last one I can remember is Michael Vick. But my point is, they’ll have like 6 teams in the top 25 at some point every year and yet still everyone thinks they aren’t a good football conference. Boston College is top 10 most years, VA Tech is right there too. And normally Miami and Fla State. Then you have the wanna be’s who still hang around the top 25 some years, Clemson, Wake, Maryland, Virginia, NC State. At least we’ve heard these names in the last 15 years. What about Big Ten…when was Illinois releveant last? They’re a deep conference with only the SEC as a deeper one in my opinion (though both have their dogs…what up Duke and Ole Miss!?) Guess someone besides Miami has to step it up and actually win a title, I hope it’s Virginia Tech this yr
I’m just saying top to bottom they are deeper than most. Pac-10 (one team). Big Ten (usually only 2 but 3 this year). Big 12 (2 teams). Big East (2 teams). SEC (6 to 8 teams). ACC (3 to 4 teams). Those are teams that are actually relevant at the end of the year.
